No, Superior Absorption Runes do not stack.
I would recommend:
-Highest Absorption Rune you can afford
-Highest Vigor Rune you can afford
-Minor Tactics
-Minor Strength
-Superior Weapon Rune (Axe, Sword, or Hammer)

The above post = win, although I would rather use a minor of the weapon in case I switch weps or want more hp.

I don't really recomend getting a sup weapon rune. I'd rather just get minor so I can keep my health high.

Weapons I usually go with a minor rune on the helmet of that type (leave it invisible if you want). For example if if I'm going swords, put a minor sword rune on the duelists helm. It's good because it's cheaper to have a 1.5 helm to change than a 15K item and unless you are going with a str or tactics helm, you'll be changing it with your weapons anyways. Other than that follow toxage's advice. The choice of minor, major, or superior weapon rune is your call. Just remember if you go major or sup to make up for the lost HP somehow. For HP I will suggest major because it gives you the most bag for the buck.
Btw, try to get all the skills for at least 2 of the weapons and a servicable weapon of each kind. Trust me on this. I love using swords but there are times and builds I want or need to use axes.

Personally I have a helmet for each stat with a superior rune corresponding to that stat on it (e.g. duelist with sup swordsmanship), so if you can afford that and change the weapons you use often, go for that.
Superior tactics is good if you play stance tank a lot, and if you use a sup vigor you'll get 455hp with 1 superior rune on. This might, however, be an expensive setup to some people, so meh.

I'm still in the dark about this...
Some say the Absorption Runes don't stack, others say they do. When I check the Rune Traders, they do NOT say the Absorption Runes are non-stacking, whilst it does say so for the other Runes...
So like:
Warrior Rune of Superior Absorption
Warrior Rune of Superior Swordsmanship (non-stacking)
Warrior Rune of Superior Axe Mastery (non-stacking)
Etcetera.
Is it just me or is this quite confusing if people keep telling it's non-stacking

Erm, whats the point of having more than one Abs ? It's non stacking, and it should be used in the piece of armor of the chest, becuz it's the one that takes more damage than the rest...

Once again I'm confused about whether or not damage reduction is locational or universal...
I believe, however, that it is universal, and therefore you can stick the absorbtion rune on your foot and it will still have the same effect...
I may be incorrect on this, though, so don't take my word for granted.

Hmm, what about 3+ absorb on breastplate and ascalon boots and a sheild with (lets say) -2 dmg reduction... Does all this stack?

Absorb runes are universal, else they would not have the "does not stack" line in the description.
Also 16 Weapon mastery for the ++crit.
